A Letter | To My Sister

#JournalingJuly - July 27th

I Love you, Monie! I am truly grateful to have you as my sister in this life. You are a force all of your own. An empathetic, frank & persevering ball of fire.

I speak nothing but Health & Wellness, Love & Gratitude, Peace & Blessings, Positivity & Optimism into your life. I want the world to know of your resilience.

How I wish I could douse the world of its scorching flames for all the trials of fire it has brought you. And yet, your light shines through it all. You hurt... but you endure.

You, much like myself, face many challenges alone in isolation. We battle similar adversities when it comes to making sense of the highs & lows of life. We are not the type to break into pieces.

We are the type to be broken open. Revealing yet evermore layers of our unlimited reserves of resilience & overcoming.

You are a warrior. You are a survivor. You are not that which you endure. You are so much more than just that.

I am here for you.

I will continue to be in your corner, always. I will continue to respect your decisions to lead the life you choose to live. I will continue to pray over your safety & security, alongside your physical & mental wellbeing.

You are experiencing a meaningful life. One that may seem unfair with the weight of its challenges. The world, however, did not know who it was contending with. You are transforming your circumstances.

You find yourself waking up on a thrilling roller coaster. It was not one you would have chosen for yourself. Yet & still, you’ve kept your eyes opens & hands up. You are willing to take life head-on.

You have a willingness to enjoy. A willingness to rebel. A willingness to decide for yourself. That is a beautiful thing indeed.

Even when away, I am here for you.

I appreciate you for caring for me. I appreciate you for empathizing with me. I appreciate you for your encouragement while stepping back to let me grow. I appreciate you for all of the laughter & joy that we share.

It was funny, I was on the phone with Mom earlier today, & she said you are like a cat because you always land on all fours. Haha! Such a great analogy for your ability to persevere.

There’s still so much joy to experience, so many more beautiful moments, yes moments of sadness too, but abundant with lessons for you.

I have faith in you.

You are tough one indeed, yet you experience a depth of emotions with such passion & empathy.

Continue to enjoy that which brings you joy. Continue to experience & Love life in the way that you want to know & Love life. Endurance is a given for you, so I am manifesting complete & total overcoming because you are the person in this life that I know can beat many odds.

I’m so fortunate to know you. Thank you for allowing me to learn from you & to grow & to share things with you. I had to write this to you in such a way because I know for sure, there’s no way you’d be able to get through 500 words of my praise without us breaking into laughter & knowing this all already, unspoken.

Much Love Aosta,

P.S. — I thought that the metaphor of “being broken open” is truly beautiful & inspirational. I received that gift from a TED Talk by David Brooks that I had also referred to on my journal entry, “On Mental Health | Navigating Out of Depression”
